Avaz Classes by Parissa

Study of the vocal Radif

Parissa Legacy offers Avaz classes with Parissa for students of Persian classical vocal music. Instruction centers on the vocal Radif — the oral repertoire that underlies improvisation and interpretation in this tradition — with attention to technique, poetry, and the discipline of master–student transmission.

Classes are planned for in-person study in Southern California and for remote participation. Programs are intended for a range of experience levels; placement and pace are guided by Parissa.

Further details on schedule and enrollment are published on the Classes page as offerings open.

Chaharshanbeh Suri

Excerpt from Light Always Prevails

At Light Always Prevails on 8 March 2026, Parissa performed lines associated with Chaharshanbeh Suri — the Iranian fire festival that precedes Nowruz. The excerpt released by Farhang Foundation pairs the poetry with the evening’s theme of an enduring flame carried from generation to generation.

English rendering of the couplet heard in the excerpt: “I am cherished among the keepers of the fire, for an eternal flame lives within our hearts.”
